Chat Rooms#

Rooms are the shared spaces in Personeo where teams communicate around a specific topic, project, department, or workflow. Any workspace user can create a room and invite colleagues to join.

Room Types#

Public Room — visible to all workspace members. Anyone can join without an invitation. Useful for company-wide announcements, general discussion, or community topics.
Private Room — visible and accessible only to invited members. The room name and messages are hidden from non-members. Suitable for teams, projects, and sensitive discussions.
Read-Only Room — only designated owners can post; other members can read and react. Ideal for announcement channels or policy updates.

Creating a Room#

Click the + icon next to the Rooms section in the Personeo sidebar.
Enter a Room Name (e.g., #sales-team, #project-alpha-2026, #general).
Optionally add a Room Topic — a short description pinned below the room name.
Choose Public or Private.
Invite initial members by searching their names or email addresses.
Click Create Room.

Messaging#

Personeo supports rich, real-time messaging in rooms and direct conversations. Messages are delivered instantly to all online members and queued for delivery to offline members when they reconnect. All messages are end-to-end encrypted in transit.

Sending Messages#

Type in the message box at the bottom of any room or direct message panel. Press Enter to send, or Shift+Enter to insert a line break. The message box supports:

Markdown formatting — **bold**, _italic_, `inline code`, ```code block```, > blockquote, - bullet list
Emoji — type : to open the emoji picker, or type a partial name like :thumbs to filter
Mentions — type @ to open the user picker and select a person to notify. A mention is rendered as @username (or @username:workspace when disambiguating across workspaces). Type @room to notify every member of the current room (use sparingly).
Room links — type # to open the room picker and insert a clickable link to another room

File Attachments#

Click the paperclip icon or drag and drop a file into the message box to attach it. Supported file types include images (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP), documents (PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX), archives (ZIP), and any other file type up to 100 MB per file.
