Monitor ships with a library of pre-built dashboards. Each dashboard is a collection of related panels (time-series charts, gauges, tables) laid out for a specific operational concern. You can browse the library from the Dashboards menu in the Monitor console.

Pre-Built Dashboards#

System Health — overall availability of your workspace’s services, resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk), and recent restarts or degraded-state events

API Latency — p50, p95, and p99 response times for Novaza API endpoints, broken down by route and method

Error Rates — counts and rates of 4xx and 5xx responses, with drill-down to the specific endpoints generating errors

Traffic Overview — request volume over time, top endpoints by traffic, and geographic distribution of requests

Time Range and Refresh#

Every dashboard has a time-range selector in the top-right corner. You can choose from common ranges (Last 15 minutes, Last hour, Last 24 hours, Last 7 days) or enter a custom absolute or relative range. Dashboards auto-refresh at a configurable interval (default: 30 seconds) while the tab is open.

Alerts

Alerts#

Alerts turn Monitor from a passive dashboard into an active notification system. An alert rule watches a metric or query and fires when the result crosses a threshold you define. Fired alerts are delivered to the contact channels configured on the workspace.

Creating an Alert Rule#

Alert rules are created from Monitor → Alerting → Alert rules → New rule. A rule consists of:

Name — a short descriptive label that appears in notifications

Query — the metric expression to evaluate

Condition — the threshold and comparator that determines when the alert fires (e.g., “p95 API latency is above 500 ms for 5 minutes”)

Evaluation interval — how often the condition is checked

For duration — how long the condition must be true before the alert transitions to firing (prevents flapping on brief spikes)

Severity label — informational tag used for routing and display (e.g., warning, critical)

Notification Channels#

Monitor delivers alert notifications over email. When an alert fires, an email is sent to every address configured on the workspace’s alerting contact list. The email contains the alert name, the current metric value, the threshold that was crossed, a link back to the relevant dashboard, and the severity label.
