Getting Started with Novaza Mail#

Accessing Webmail#

Novaza Mail provides a full-featured webmail interface that lets you read and send mail directly in your browser — no software installation required.

Visit mail.novaza.ai
Sign in with your Novaza SSO credentials (email and password)
Your inbox will load immediately after sign-in

Webmail supports the full feature set: compose, attachments, folder management, filters and search.

Configuring Mail on a Computer#

Outlook (Windows / macOS)#

Open Outlook → File → Add Account
Enter your email address (e.g. name@yourcompany.com)
Choose Advanced options → Let me set up my account manually
Select IMAP
Enter the server details:

Outgoing server	`mail.novaza.ai`

Username	Your full email address (e.g. `name@yourcompany.com`)

Click Connect and wait for confirmation

Thunderbird#

Open Thunderbird → Account Settings → Account Actions → Add Mail Account
Enter your name, email and password
Click Configure manually and enter the same server details as above
Click Re-test then Done

Apple Mail (macOS)#

Open System Settings → Internet Accounts → Add Other Account → Mail Account
Enter your email and password
When prompted for manual configuration, enter the server details above
Click Sign In

Configuring Mail on a Phone#

iPhone / iPad (iOS Mail)#

Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Mail Account
Enter your name, email and password
Select IMAP and enter:
- Incoming Mail Server: mail.novaza.ai
- Outgoing Mail Server: mail.novaza.ai
Tap Next and wait for verification

Android (Gmail app)#

Open Gmail → Settings → Add account → Other
Enter your email address, choose Manual setup → Personal (IMAP)
Enter your password
Incoming server: mail.novaza.ai, port 993, SSL/TLS
Outgoing server: mail.novaza.ai, port 465, SSL/TLS
Complete the setup

Calendar Sync (CalDAV)#

Novaza Mail Administration#

This guide is intended for administrators of the mail system. You need admin privileges to perform the actions below.

Setting Up a Custom Domain#

To send and receive mail on your own domain (e.g. name@yourcompany.com), you need to configure the domain’s DNS records.

Step 1: Add the Domain#

Sign in to the Novaza Mail admin console
Navigate to Settings → Domains → Add Domain
Enter the domain name (e.g. yourcompany.com)
The system will generate the required DNS records

Step 2: Configure DNS#

Add the following records to the domain’s DNS:

Novaza Mail Security#

Novaza Mail is built with security as a first-class concern. All mail is encrypted in transit, and the integrated anti-spam system protects inboxes from abuse.

Encryption in Transit (TLS)#

All client connections to Novaza Mail are encrypted with TLS 1.2 or TLS 1.3:

IMAP (port 993) — SSL/TLS required
SMTP (port 465) — SSL/TLS required
Webmail — HTTPS with a valid certificate

Mail exchanged between Novaza Mail and external servers is also encrypted with TLS when the remote server supports it (opportunistic TLS). TLS 1.3 is preferred when available.

Email Protocols#

Novaza Mail is a standards-compliant email server. Users can connect with any mail client that speaks IMAP, POP3, JMAP, or SMTP Submission. Webmail is not required — but it remains the quickest way to read mail from any browser without configuration.

IMAP#

IMAP keeps all messages and folders on the server, so every device sees the same mailbox state. It is the recommended protocol for most users.

Port: 993 (implicit TLS) or 143 (STARTTLS)
Authentication: user email + password, or OAuth 2.0
Supported extensions: IDLE, CONDSTORE, QRESYNC, MOVE, ID, NAMESPACE, UIDPLUS, LIST-EXTENDED, SPECIAL-USE, SORT, THREAD, COMPRESS

POP3#

POP3 downloads messages to a single device and (optionally) deletes them from the server. It is appropriate for archival clients but not recommended for day-to-day use across multiple devices.

Calendar & Contacts (CalDAV / CardDAV)

Calendar & Contacts#

Novaza Mail provides calendar and address book storage using the open CalDAV and CardDAV standards. Any client that supports these protocols — Apple Calendar, Thunderbird, DAVx⁵ on Android, Outlook with a connector — can read and write your events and contacts.

Each user starts with a default calendar named Personal. Additional calendars can be created from webmail or directly through the DAV protocol.

Sieve Filters

Sieve Filters#

Sieve is a standard scripting language for filtering incoming email. Novaza Mail evaluates each user’s Sieve script as messages are delivered and can move, copy, discard, flag, or auto-reply to messages based on their content.

Managing Filters#

The easiest way to manage filters is through webmail under Settings → Filters. The UI translates clicks into Sieve scripts under the hood, so you don’t need to learn the syntax to build common rules.

Admin API#

The Admin API lets you manage mail domains, accounts, aliases, quotas, and routing programmatically. It is intended for provisioning scripts, monitoring integrations, and tenants that want to embed mail management into their own control panel.

Base URL#

Authentication#

Requests must include a bearer token issued to an admin account or a service account with the mail.admin role.

Authorization: Bearer <token>

Tokens are created from SSO → Users → API keys and can be scoped to individual domains.

Aliases & Catch-All

Aliases & Catch-All#

Aliases let one mailbox receive mail addressed to several different addresses. They are the simplest way to route mail for shared roles (sales@, support@, billing@) or to give a single person multiple public addresses without creating duplicate mailboxes.

Simple Alias#

A simple alias forwards all mail for one address to another mailbox on the same domain:

sales@example.com → alice@example.com

Mail sent to sales@example.com is delivered to Alice’s INBOX. Replies come from Alice’s address unless she configures a sending identity for sales@.
