Subscriptions#
A subscription represents your commitment to a Novaza plan over a recurring billing period (monthly or annual). Each workspace has exactly one active subscription at a time, and the subscription determines which features, quotas, and per-unit overage rates apply.
Lifecycle#
A subscription moves through the following states:
- Trialing — a time-limited evaluation period during which no charges are accrued (if a trial has been granted)
- Active — the subscription is in good standing and the plan’s features are fully available
- Past Due — the most recent invoice was not paid by the due date; service may be restricted after a grace period
- Cancelled — the subscription has been terminated and will not renew; access continues until the end of the paid period
- Ended — the paid period has elapsed and access has been revoked
Upgrading and Downgrading#
You can change plans at any time from the customer portal:
- Upgrades take effect immediately. The new plan’s features are unlocked right away, and the difference in price is prorated against the remaining days in the current billing period.
- Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. This prevents you from losing paid-for capacity partway through a cycle.
When changing plans, any metered usage already accrued in the current period is invoiced under the plan that was active at the time the usage occurred.
Cancellation#
Cancel a subscription from the customer portal under Subscription → Cancel. Cancellation is effective at the end of the current paid period — you retain access until that date and will not be billed again. You can re-activate a cancelled subscription at any time before the period ends.
Billing Cycle Anchor#
Each subscription has a cycle anchor (the day of the month on which invoices are generated). For monthly subscriptions the anchor is set at the time of subscription creation and remains fixed for the life of the subscription.
